"I am incredibly grateful that God led me to HAB during the darkest time in my life."

For nearly 2 years now, our female clients have been able to access female-only supported accommodation provided by Homeless Action in Barnet. Our support workers provide regular ongoing support to residents including benefits advice, signposting and access to health, social care and mental health interventions. Misha* is one of those clients who has benefited and is now excited about the future:

"I suffered with homelessness after graduating from university, leading to my unemployment and developing mental health issues. After a few appointments I was offered a room in a women's house in London which was comforting to live and support women in similar hard situations like myself. I had the blessing to have support workers providing assistance and advice to rebuilding my life. I have had help with everything from budgeting and savings to editing my CV and looking for work/volunteering opportunities. HAB referred me to counselling and the Westminster Drug Project which has had a great impact to my mind and body.

"All I needed was a place of my own to get back on my feet and plan my next steps."

"When people have a strong foundation, they can achieve greatness. Now I have my first one bedroom flat and I’m studying business enterprise at Princes Trust. I am excited about my life, career and future again. I only wish more people suffering homelessness could receive more support and resources to help them move forward in their journey. Investing in people and their quality of life is the way forward to a better world. Going to HAB and accepting their support was the greatest decision I have made and I will always be thankful and grateful.

"I am really happy that I have the chance to live in this lovely house because it helped me so much. Last year, I could focus on my education and finished my access to HE Diploma (Science) and also I applied for dental universities. I want to start a dental nursing course next month.

"I have learned many things from my room-mates and they helped me so much to improve my English, and we have good communication with each other. The house is always clean and quiet that is helping me to focus on my studying during the lock down. My case worker, always supports me when I am in trouble and during the lock down HAB supports me for food and anything that I need for house"
