Appeal hits target

When our Winter Appeal was launched last November the aim was to raise £5,000 by the end of February.

Donations flowed in steadily and at the start of the month we were just over halfway. However, once a reminder about the deadline appeared on HAB’s Facebook page, a further £1,000 was pledged in just 24 hours and we hit the target with just days to spare.

Joe Lee, HAB’s Chief Executive said: “This year we had a terrific response to our joint Winter Appeal with Together in Barnet and raised £5,370.

“In the current cost of living crisis the generosity of so many people wanting to help those in need was fantastic. A huge thank you to everyone who donated!”

Shout-outs to supporters

HAB would like to thank Golders Green Rotary Club for their continued and regular support including donations of clothing and other items we need. You can find out more about the work they do on their website

Thanks, also, to the students in Holborn House at Wren Academy who spent a day working in an ‘outdoor classroom’ and raised £126 for us. Read more about the event and those who took part

And, finally to Mill Hill Residents' Association, who last year held their own Supper Quiz and generously donated £200 from the proceeds.

Finding out how our supporters are raising their funds is interesting for us at HAB, but can also provide inspiration to others. So, if you have a donation with a story behind it, please get in touch and we might feature it in the next issue.

Walking the walk

Jonah Goldin decided to celebrate his barmitzvah by embarking on a monumental task to raise money for two charities — one of which was HAB.

Jonah’s plan was to walk the entire length of the Northern Line from Morden to High Barnet — a distance of more than 30 km — in just one day.

Not only did he complete the challenge, he raised a monumental amount of sponsorship money — an amazing £15,000! Half of this has been donated to HAB.

CEO Joe Lee says:

“We congratulate Jonah on his marathon walk and would like to thank him for supporting our work with this generous donation.”
