Winter Newsletter 2022

HAB Chair John Bier with Mayor of Barnet Alison MooreWelcome to our Winter Newsletter and thank you for supporting our work. You will read here about the very successful Halloween Quiz for HAB – that has raised £3000 for our work – a fantastic result! This issue also includes some articles to put a ‘human face’ to both our staff team, our Projects and the clients we support.

As we all go into a winter facing increased fuel costs and a general cost of living crisis we are anticipating an increase in demand for our services and help. As I write, the numbers of people rough sleeping in London has risen 25 per cent on the same period last year and affordable housing options are beyond the reach of many people in our community.

This winter up to 17 people a night will be sleeping warm and safe in premises provided by a wide range of faith groups within Barnet and organised by Together in Barnet.

HAB will be supporting these clients as well as 45 other people within supported housing projects, and the many others who contact us through the Centre for advice, medical support and practical help with clothing, food and showers.

The number of individuals contacting HAB and receiving various levels of support is still around 700 people a year. I know that those of you who are able to will support us and I send my thanks to you on behalf of all at HAB.

Finally – I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and Seasons Greetings from everyone at HAB.

Enjoy the read!
